Born in 1949, Anto was encouraged by his father, a furniture maker, into pursuing his artistic interest in hopes that he would some day become an interior designer or architect and take charge of the family business; but Anto's creative instinct was driven to the undefined boundaries of paint and canvas. After two years of law school at the age of 21, he decided to quit the study of law and pursue a career in art.

 
 

   
 

Starts studies of painting and sculpture at the National Academy of Fine Arts of Paris, France, and later enrolls at the University of Paris
majoring in philosophy.

 
 

   
 

Anto Patanian's painting evolves from representational expressionism to abstraction. He starts studies in French Literature and Linguistics at the University of Paris.
